Excursions 
Visitors can easily enter the caves and admire such special things as the Reflecting Grotto, where stalactites are reflected in the placid pool of water that fills the cave.Or see the "Koh-i-noor", a mighty stalactite, at least 40,000 years old, or the subterranean water fall. Allow enough time to visit the museum located at the entry of the cave system: here the various expeditions and findings are well-explained and documented for posteriority.
The St. Beatus Caves are open from Palm Sunday till the 3rd Sunday in October, daily from 10.30 am - 5 pm, guided tours available every 30 minutes. The museum is open daily from 12 noon to 5 pm.
How to get there:
Drive or take public transportation to the St. Beatus Caves via Interlaken or Thun. It is a ten-minute ascent on foot from the parking lot / bus stop, from the ship's quay approx. 20 minutes.
Beatus Caves: Dragons, Lakes and a Holy Man
Search Switzerland for
Up to 1900 years ago supposedly a terrible dragon resided in the area around Lake Thun. Its abode were the Beatus Caves, a huge cave system. Apparently not even the people living here during the Stone Ages could get rid of this beast. It was only the Irish monk Beatus who managed to banish the beast into Lake Thun. In the meantime, the cave system is now easily accessible and is definitely worth a visit.
